The Thousand Islands Arts Center commissioned us to design a new multi-level facility in Clayton, New York, accommodating rotating exhibitions, large community events, administrative offices, and hands-on workshops. Inspired by the area’s historic commercial architecture, the design draws upon research conducted at the Thousand Islands Museum and incorporates details adapted from several local precedents. More than a home for the arts, the new center is envisioned as a shared community space—a welcoming place for people to gather, learn, create, and connect. Construction by Black Horse Group.
