This project won a 2023 AIA CNY Citation of Design Award. Taylored Architecture was asked to design a new cottage in a small community on Lake Ontario. Our clients desired a traditional style house that pays homage to the historic architecture of the area. Inspiration for the design was gleaned from historic images of community cottages as well as the clients' goals for modern amenities, accessibility to the waterfront, and open spaces. The lot for the house is quite narrow, thus we developed a three-floor design that met the clients' program within the property parameters. This project was in collaboration with Taylor + Co.
